Here’s how Kevin creates value for organizations with Mendix’s low-code platform
As an Advanced Mendix Developer & Certified Mendix Trainer at Mendify, Kevin Narmon helps our clients optimize their operational processes. In this blog, he talks about why he is such a big fan of Mendix’s low-code platform and why he thinks it helps companies move forward.
Developing at lightning speed
Automating and optimizing business processes is many times faster with Mendix’s low-code platform than with traditional software development technologies. The bi-weekly sprints allow us to convert business requirements to a prototype very quickly. This will of course initially contain only the minimum required functionalities, but it already gives you something the customer can start working with.
Getting out where you want to be
The added value for the business is not only in the speed of development, but also in the speed of adjustment. After each sprint, the customer can provide feedback. With the – now obsolete – waterfall method, it was common that when something was delivered after months, it did not meet expectations. By developing on the Mendix platform, the customer can provide continuous feedback and we always get to where he or she wants to be, even if due to advancing insight the requirements change a bit.
Get inside the customer’s head
Another big plus is that by working iteratively, you can get inside the customer’s head, so to speak. Because we as Mendify are involved in the process from the very beginning, often even before the requirements are written, we are able to think along. The customer knows how a process works and often already has a defined idea of what it should look like in automated form. We, thanks to our experience, see it quite differently. By engaging in conversation, clients sometimes come to valuable insights and ideas they did not have before.
Cocreation
One of our clients is in the waste management business. One of their duties is to weigh and package waste. These were originally sequential steps. By discussing the requirements of the new application with the client, we came to the realization that those two steps could also be reduced to one. This saves time and therefore costs. This is a great example of cocreation. The customer is expert when it comes to the business, we are experts when it comes to Mendix’s low-code platform and know exactly what is possible. Bringing those two areas of expertise together creates the most valuable ideas.
Speed, efficiency and quality
With the traditional way of developing software, your job as a developer is mainly that: to develop. As a Mendix developer, you are much more involved with the business and really have something to contribute. It also makes my job a lot more fun. Yes, if I had to sum up working with Mendix, it’s mostly about speed, efficiency and quality. And fun, of course.

Wondering if your organization can also fully embrace agile working with Mendix’s low-code platform? Challenge us with a case study. Provide us with an idea and we will make it concrete based on a one-day mini-project in which we play the “game” as it works in a real agile development project. This app-in-a-day experience is guaranteed to convince you of the possibilities.
