Looking for a Mendix partner? Here’s what to look for in your choice
As an IT manager, you are looking for a reliable and expert partner who can help your organization build Mendix applications and/or guide you in your digital transformation. When choosing the right partner, you pay attention to several aspects such as experience, reputation and pricing. There are other things to look out for as well. In this blog, Kevin Narmon, Advanced Mendix Developer & Certified Mendix Trainer at Mendify, takes a look at these points.
Reputation of the partner
A good reputation is very important, this is true in any industry, and thus also when choosing a Mendix partner. It is wise to look at the potential partner’s credentials. Are there relevant reference stories on the website? How has the collaboration with their customers gone? Did the partner keep their word and did they prove trustworthy? These are important things to consider when making your choice.
The right skills
It is important that the partner has the right knowledge and skills to properly support your organization. You do not want to end up with a partner where you can only get part of the solution because the certain skills are lacking or inadequate. Therefore, ask what certifications the Mendix partner holds and test if they have the necessary knowledge. With a partner with certified Mendix employees, you can be sure they have the necessary expertise to use the platform properly. Employees without those certifications may do a fine job, but you don’t have any kind of guarantee.
The right mix of skills
Building Mendix applications is more than just knowledge of the platform. Therefore, it is also important for the partner to have a mix of skills, such as UI and UX experience, to be able to fine-tune the application to perfection. Therefore, also ask about the other skills the partner has and check if they match your needs.
Capacity and scalability
Another criteria is capacity and scalability of the partner. It may well be that you start with a small-scale project, but when low-code takes on a strategic role in the execution of your IT strategy, you need more people. It is then convenient and efficient if the partner can provide this capacity. So choose a partner that fits your organization now, as well as your future plans. Also consider whether you necessarily want partner employees on-site at your location, or are you satisfied with nearshore capacity as well?
Supplier or partner
Will you go with a supplier or a partner? A true Mendix partner is more than just a provider of services and applications. They work closely with your employees, provide training in Mendix and think along with you about the future developments of your organization and carry a project with you. So choose a partner that not only builds, but is also able to enabler you and think with you about how your organization can further digitize and innovate.
