The people behind Mendify: Minh-Duc, Mitch, Mona, Peter, Pieter and Simon
At Mendify, we specialize in designing, developing and implementing software based on Mendix’s low-code platform. Day in and day out, we help our clients take the right steps in digital transformation. We now do this with a sizeable club of people, spread across our branches in Belgium, the Netherlands and Romania. Beautiful people who make sure the well-oiled machine called Mendify stays well-oiled. In a number of blogs, we would like to take a moment to highlight our colleagues. In this blog, the turn of Minh-Duc, Mitch, Mona, Peter, Pieter and Simon.
Minh-Duc Bui: The driven centipede
Minh-Duc has held various positions over the past 14 years, from sales engineer of building materials to project coordinator for the construction of drinking water pipes. He has been with Mendify since last November and is already able to participate in IT projects. That makes him living proof that even non-techies can do well with low-code.
Minh-Duc: “Because Mendix’s low-code platform is so visual and you see results immediately, it’s very approachable. Bringing my communication skills together with my business knowledge of different industries allows me to respond well to the needs of our clients.
Recently I got married and I am a father of two daughters. In my free time, I can occasionally be found behind my game console, where I like to play Ark, Terraria or Apex Legend. I also enjoy movies, especially in the genre of the Korean film Monster or the French film series Les Gendarmes de Saint Tropez. When I get around to it, I also like to show off my skills in the kitchen or go on trips with my family.
Mitch van Hove: The versatile developer
Mitch graduated from the “Multimedia and Creative Technology” program at the Erasmushogeschool in Brussels in 2022. During his education, he was introduced to several technological disciplines, including full-stack web design, UX/UI Design, VR development and a wide range of OOP. In addition, he has a good understanding of business and marketing. Mitch now works as a Junior Mendix Developer at Mendify.
Mitch: “As a Mendix Developer, my goal is to gain deep insight into customer requirements and come up with appropriate solutions. I have a creative mind, always thinking out-of-the-box and always looking for ways to expand my knowledge and step out of my comfort zone. Feedback I take to heart and I always go that extra mile.
In my free time, I like to keep busy with fitness and running. Besides, I’m a gamer and a music lover.
Mona Meller: The Creative Force
After completing her Master’s degree in TEW, Mona worked as a functional analyst for several years. She spent the pandemic usefully with a workingholiday of a year and a half in New Zealand. There she discovered her love of nature and camping.
Mona: “After my adventure abroad, I joined Mendify because I was looking for a challenge where I could develop my creativity. I am the first and for now the only female colleague at Mendify Belgium. I have been working at Mendify for a year now and have successfully completed several projects together with my great colleagues who I get along with very well.
Even without a technical education, the Mendix low-code platform allows me to contribute to ingenious applications. My greatest asset is my empathy, which allows me to build strong bonds of trust with both colleagues and clients.
Peter Vangheluwe: The driven team player
Peter worked in education for 13 years. He combined his job as a teacher of Computer Science and Physical Education with a role as an ICT support person and coordinator. After 13 years of education, he obtained his micro-degree Software Developer through distance learning and worked as an ERP Analyst/Developer in the RPGLE programming language at Talent-IT and Cebeo. In early 2022, Peter started at Mendify and has not regretted his move for a moment.
Peter: “After a career switch to IT, I realized that I had much more up my sleeve than I thought. Working in a team, finding solutions together and puzzling with Mendix is something I love. My experience as a teacher is also really an added value at Mendify. That comes in handy when coaching and training colleagues. Seeing people grow in their work gives me a great feeling. Giving up? I don’t know about that. I always go to extremes, as my contribution to the project at Van Marcke proves. I do not shy away from challenges and my enthusiasm is contagious. Work hard, play hard is my motto, and that totally fits the Mendify vibe.
I am happily married and proud father of two sons aged five and seven. Sports, especially cycling, is a great passion of mine, both active and passive. Training, pushing limits and setting goals, that’s what I do it for, but I certainly don’t forget the après-bike either!
Pieter Taghon: The enthusiastic salesman
Pieter studied computer science after which he made a switch to economics and commerce. He started at Omega Pharma and then worked at Centric for 14 years. That career began as a business consultant on Jan Ickroth ‘s team and he ended as country director of Centric Belgium. He then went elsewhere to work in a commercial role. In late 2022, he returned home to the IT world at Mendify. His unique contribution to the Mendify team is his enthusiasm and commercial strength.
Pieter: “I am happily married to Kim. Together we have two children, Julot and Marie-Joëlle. We live in Waregem, together with our Jack Russell Jeanne. My biggest hobby at the moment is working with the children on the ponies. Being outside together and feeding and fattening the animals every morning. After that, I am all set to help the fantastic Mendify team continue to grow and prosper so that we can realize our BHAG.’
Simon Allaert: The inquisitive problem solver
Simon studied Applied Computer Science at UCLL, the “College of Moving Minds,” and Interactive Multimedia Design at Thomas More, the largest college in Flanders. Right after his studies, he started at Mendify, as a Mendix developer. Simon strengthens the team with his perseverance, positive mindset and ability to think solution-oriented.
Simon: “I like to be involved in many different things to learn new things. My passions are cooking, (guitar) music (guitar) and sports. When I’m not busy with one of my hobbies, you can find me in my room behind the game console.’
